Divergent Ops has joined forces with internationally known former Israeli Defense Force officer and instructor Idan Abolnik to train its staff. Divergent Ops’ Claire Meiring said they were planning to start training as soon as possible. “Idan is between Spain and Poland now, so as soon as he is back.”

Meiring said their staff were going to be coached in all the courses such as SWAT, anti-terror, combat shooting and Kalah.

Abolnik is a world-renowned combat trainer. He has coached at various organisations and people in 25 countries around the world.

He was conscripted into the Israeli military at the age of 18. Initially he was stationed in Lebanon and then redeployed to Gaza during the first three years of his service. He was involved in gathering intelligence, deployment behind enemy lines and doing whatever was necessary to protect his country. He was later assigned to the anti-terror and intelligence division, working in countries throughout Africa.

Abolnik is the founder of the Kalah Combat System. The focus thereof is to train people to defend themselves in life-threatening situations. His mission is to give others a better chance of survival if they find themselves in dangerous situations, be it crime- or terror-related.

Kalah differs from Krav Maga, the Israeli military’s martial arts training.

It is not for everyone. It is genuine combat training that encompasses a full hand-to-hand combat syllabus, weapons, and firearms training as well as specialised defense techniques. It is hard and participants are exposed to understanding and coping with the fear of violence. It is this level of realism that sets Kalah apart from other training systems.

Meiring concluded that their staff are set to be trained every three months to stay on top of their combat skills.

“Divergent Ops is looking at sponsoring Idan to run some training courses for our local farmers,” she concluded.
