New coordinator is a breath of fresh air for CANSA Lowveld

Mandisa Mthembu.

CANSA Lowveld has recently appointed a new staff member, Mandisa Mthembu, who has joined the team as the divisional coordinator for service delivery in Mpumalanga.

“While I was studying to become a social worker I started doing volunteer work for CANSA in Durban. It seems like it was fate, because I grew to love my work and since 2015 I have been involved with the organisation,” she said.

Working with a wide variety of communities, faced by a myriad of challenges posed by trying to provide care and support to cancer patients and survivors from all walks of life, Mthembu says not a day goes by that she does not learn more about the disease and how it impacts people’s lives.

With a busy schedule and two upcoming events planned for the next two months, Mthembu would like to encourage all interested parties in the Lowveld to join in the upcoming Relay for Life and Hollard Daredevil Run.

“I think it’s a calling, for myself and my colleagues, to tackle these issues of providing support, raising awareness and assisting in treatment” she said, adding that she looks forward to working with the dedicated team from CANSA Lowveld.
