Great fun and entertainment on Mother’s Day

Forté will kick off the musical entertainment on May 11.

It’s nearly time to pack your picnic basket for the annual Sappi/Lowvelder Mother’s Day Concert at the Lowveld Botanical Garden on Sunday.

To celebrate the great work of mothers, entry is free for all women and the first 500 will receive a pashmina scarf. Preschoolers also enter free, pensioners and primary schoolchildren pay R20 and adults (and everyone not named) pay R60.

Gates open at 09:00 and the entertainment starts at 12:15 with a snake-and-reptile talk by Chris Hobkirk of Reptile Recovery. At 13:00 the musical entertainment kicks off with Forté, followed by Thean Kotzé and then platinum seller, Nianell.

Parents can relax and enjoy the performance while their children are kept busy at the kiddies’ corner. Coca-Cola is sponsoring the set up of the Fanta Zone and Sappi Ngodwana Mill the entertainment. Activities will include jumping castles, Bakers’ cupcake corner, clivia-potting corner and arts and crafts. Lowveld Media will set up a complimentary photo corner.

There will also be a variety of stalls with food and drinks, as well as a fully stocked beverage bar and wine tasting hosted by a well-known wine cellar.

J&M will facilitate the parking and direct vehicles to the allocated parking areas. From there the Citybug shuttle service will take concertgoers and their baggage to the venue. The public is urged to buy tickets in advance as only ticket holders will be allowed on the shuttle service.

People with physical disabilities qualify for special permits allowing their vehicles entry to the garden. These permits need to be collected by Friday (May 9) at the garden’s administrative offices.

Tickets are on sale at Mica Hardware in Nelspruit, the entrance gate to the botanical garden and Meat Delights German Butchery at Riverside Junction.

Keep an eye on Nelspruit Post and for more information.
