We don’t want answers, we want money

Students of the FET College have barricaded the gate of the campus with burning logs since yesterday morning, making it inaccessible. “We will not move until we get money. We don’t want answers, we want money,” one of the students told Nelspruit Post. This after they had apparently not received any money for transport since the start of this year. They claim that they also have not received any application forms for this bursary, and that many cannot reach the college as a result. “The college gave us two choices, one to go back to class and one to go home, but we decided to stay here until we get what we want,” said Percy Malupi, who is in her fifth year at the college. “The student-support leader must fall,” she added. One of the students said she wasn’t able to hand in an assignment because of transport problems. At the time of going to press, the student representative council and the police were in a meeting, discussing the way forward.
