Pollard: An example that South African rugby structures work

The Blue Bulls number 10 won his first cap for the Springboks in the 55-6 win, a mere week after leading the Baby Boks to the final of the IRB Junior World Championship in New Zealand.

Pollard, who went to school at Paarl Gimnasium, has represented South Africa at three Junior World Cups, played Varsity Rugby for the University of Pretoria in the 2013 title winning campaign and now made his Springbok debut all at the age of 20.

The Somerset West born flyhalf has paid tribute to the South African Rugby structures following a stunning display in the Green in Gold at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

“It has been such an amazing path, it is a great example of the success of the structures in South African rugby, how well it works if you just stick by it and use your opportunities,” Pollard told SuperSport.

“It is a great honour for me, it was an unbelievable day for me.”
